What to Do in a Dental Emergency in Houston
Knocked-out tooth, cracked molar, sudden swelling: the first hour matters.
Knocked-out tooth
Pick it up by the crown, never the root. Rinse gently, try to reseat it in the socket, or keep it in milk. Get to us within an hour for the best chance of saving it.
Cracked or broken tooth
Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress for swelling, and avoid chewing on that side. Save any fragments.
Severe toothache
Rinse, floss gently to remove trapped debris, and take over-the-counter pain relief as directed. Never place aspirin against the gum.
Swelling or fever
Facial swelling with fever is an infection spreading and needs same-day attention. If swelling affects breathing or swallowing, go to an emergency room.
