Healthy gums are the foundation of every smile
Gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss, and in its early stages it rarely hurts. Bleeding when you brush, tenderness or persistent bad breath are the signals worth acting on now.

Catching it early
At each exam we measure the pockets around your teeth. Shallow pockets are healthy; deeper ones mean bacteria have gotten under the gumline. Gingivitis, the earliest stage, is fully reversible.
Scaling and root planing
A deep cleaning removes hardened deposits from the root surfaces and smooths them so gums can reattach. We numb the area thoroughly and usually treat one half of the mouth at a time for comfort.
Maintenance visits
After treatment, most patients move to a three or four month cleaning interval. This rhythm is what actually keeps periodontal disease from returning.
Gum recession
Receding gums expose sensitive root surfaces and change how your smile looks. Depending on the cause, we address grinding, brushing technique, or refer for grafting when coverage is needed.
