Veneers vs. Bonding
Both fix chips, gaps and discoloration. They differ in cost, longevity and how much tooth is involved.
Bonding
Composite resin is sculpted directly onto the tooth and hardened with a light, usually in one visit. It is the least expensive option and removes little or no enamel.
Veneers
Thin porcelain shells are custom made in a lab and bonded to the front of the tooth. They resist staining, reflect light like natural enamel, and hold their shape far longer.
Longevity
Bonding typically lasts five to seven years and can stain or chip. Porcelain veneers commonly last ten to fifteen years or more.
How to choose
For one small chip, bond it. For several teeth, permanent discoloration or a full smile redesign, veneers usually deliver a better and longer-lasting result.
