Porcelain Veneers Lifespan
How long veneers last, what shortens their life, and what happens when they need replacing.
Typical lifespan
Well-made porcelain veneers commonly last ten to fifteen years, and many go longer with good care.
What shortens it
Grinding without a nightguard, chewing ice or fingernails, using teeth as tools, and gum disease that changes the gumline around the veneer.
How to protect them
Wear your nightguard, keep six-month cleanings, use a non-abrasive toothpaste, and avoid biting hard objects with your front teeth.
Replacement
Veneers are replaced rather than removed and left off, because enamel was reduced to place them. Budget for eventual replacement when planning.
